Natalie Portman Is Worthy To Possess The Power Of THOR

While Avengers: Endgame said goodbye to a few OG Avengers, there are still a few left. Thor is one of those, and at San Diego Comic Con, it was announced that Taika Waititi would be directing a 4th Thor movie called Thor: Love and Thunder with both Chris Hemsworth and Tessa Thompson returning to their respective roles.

But the big surprise was that series veteran Natalie Portman was returning and she would become Thor. This is not some crazy thing baked up by Feige and Waititi. Jane Foster does indeed wield Mjolnir and become Thor in the comics.

At one time she said she was done with the franchise, and seemed pretty upset over her time on Thor: The Dark World. But she made a surprise cameo in Avengers: Endgame, and now it makes more sense why she agreed to return to that.

I do not think this spells the end for Chris Hemsworth’s time as Thor. I just think Jane will burden the responsibility of Thor, while Hemsworth’s Thor goes off and finds himself (perhaps with Guardians Of The Galaxy?) If Doctor Strange truly introduces the multiverse, then that is how there could be room for two Thors as well.

I have faith in Waititi. Thor: Ragnarok is one of the most delightful pieces of Cinema ever put on screen. For him to do a follow up is nothing but good news.

They also confirmed that Thompson’s Valkyrie would be the first LGBTQIA+ superhero in the MCU. The title lends itself to a love story, and Waititi confirmed as much. With Thompson saying Valkyrie being King of New Asgard means she “needs to find her queen.”

There are a lot of things that Marvel announced in Hall H, but this is definitely near the top of the list. I mean just look at the logo. We are in for a treat.

Thor: Love And Thunder hits theaters November 5, 2021.
