THE FLASH: Andy Muschietti Might Have What IT Takes To Direct The Fastest Man Alive

The Flash movie has been trying to get off the ground for a long, long time. It has gone through many writers and directors, and never got anywhere. But a new combination might just do it.

The Hollywood Reporter exclusively reported that It: Chapter 2 director Andy Muschietti is in talks to helm the film now. What’s more is that Birds Of Prey and Bumblebee writer Christina Hodson will write a new script.

Game Night directors (and Spider-Man: Homecoming writers) John Francis Daley and Jonathan Goldstein were set to direct, but left the project voluntarily due to a conflict of vision with Flash star Ezra Miller, who wanted a darker approach to the script. Miller even went so far as to enlist Grant Morrison to help him write his own version of the script, but Warner Bros still rejected it.

Miller is still set to star, but it seems like he won’t receive a writing credit, since Hodson is basically starting from scratch.

No official deals have been made, but THR says that offers should go out relatively soon.

If Muschietti does officially sign on, he will be the latest in a trend of horror directors to helm a DC film. Both Aquaman‘s James Wan and Shazam‘s David F. Sandberg have horror roots. So it would be a familiar path for Warner Bros and DC to take in regards to their comic movie properties.

This pairing sounds like a good one, but so did the last few. I will believe this movie happens when cameras start rolling, and even then I will be skeptical until I am seated in the theater. I do believe The Flash will come to the big screen in a solo adventure one day, so who knows, maybe this is the team that will make it happen.
