The Invisible Man is starting to take shape. Since being handed over to Blumhouse, the film ditched Johnny Depp, added The Handmaid’s Tale star Elisabeth Moss in a starring role, and Leigh Whannell is set to direct. Moss will be starring as Cecilia, who gets news of her abusive ex-boyfriend’s suicide, and begins to rebuild her life. It’s for the better, but her sense of reality comes into question when she suspects the ex isn’t exactly dead and gone.

The child actress will play a character named Sydney, a character Deadline describes the following way:

With her mother gone, she’s picked up the maternal slack and is very capable and mature for her age. She’s an outgoing lover of fashion who aspires to see the world, and she initially likes having Cecilia around as a role model but grows mistrustful of her when strange things begin to happen around the house.

Reid was the lead in Ava DuVernay’s Disney feature adaptation of the kids’ novel A Wrinkle in Time, which reached 100 million dollars at the North American box office, and had 32 million dollars in the foreign box office. She’s been in a Best Picture Oscar winner, 12 Years a Slave, a limited Netflix series, When They See Us, and the HBO series Euphoria.

I personally have never seen Reid in anything but trailers, but those have been very good. I’ve heard bits and pieces from others that she shines in anything she’s in so there’s positives there. A Wrinkle in Time didn’t do so hot at the box office, and ended up in Tony’s bottom 10 of 2018, so there’s also that. But there’s 12 Years a Slave as well, so she’s had mixed results. We will see how this goes!
