New SPIDER-MAN: FAR FROM HOME Trailer Brings The MCU Into The Multiverse!

In Avengers: Endgame, the folks at Marvel Studios introduced us to the idea of alternate timelines, branching paths, and hinted at the idea of different earths. In their follow-up to that, Spider-Man: Far From Home, they double down on that idea in a big way.

Watch the new Spider-Man: Far From Home trailer and see what I mean:

Peter Parker returns in Spider-Man: Far From Home, the next chapter of the Spider-Man: Homecoming series! Our friendly neighborhood Super Hero decides to join his best friends Ned, MJ, and the rest of the gang on a European vacation. However, Peter’s plan to leave super heroics behind for a few weeks are quickly scrapped when he begrudgingly agrees to help Nick Fury uncover the mystery of several elemental creature attacks, creating havoc across the continent!

Did you catch that dialogue?

Mysterio/Quentin Beck: “We could’ve used someone like you on my world.”

Spider-Man: “Your world?”

Nick Fury:Beck is from earth. Just not ours. The snap tore a hole in our dimension.

Spider-Man: “You’re saying there’s a multiverse?”

Yes, folks. That’s where we’re at now in the Marvel Cinematic Universe.

And it’s pretty fitting that they’re going to use Spidey’s movie to educate the masses on this new storytelling conceit, because the animated film Spider-Man: Into The Spider-Verse already (inadvertently?) laid the groundwork for that last December. That film also played with the idea of multiple earths.

For comic book fans, none of this is new. But for general audiences, this concept is likely to feel like new, unexplored territory. Let’s see how they take to it.

Spider-Man: Far From Home picks up in the aftermath of the events depicted in Endgame, and it looks like it’ll be a satisfying to close off what’s ended and kickstart what’s new in the MCU.

Far From Home arrives in theaters on July 2, and tickets are on sale NOW!
