SPIDER-MAN: FAR FROM HOME Is ‘The End Of’ The MCU’s Phase 3, Says Kevin Feige

For the past few weeks, I’ve referred to Spider-Man: Far From Home as the first big look at the Marvel Cinematic Universe after the hotly anticipated Avengers: Endgame hits theaters later this week and concludes the decade long story of the Infinity Saga. At the time, I thought for sure that meant that the Spider-Man: Homecoming sequel would be fans’ first look at Phase 4, but apparently the film will instead play a similar role in the MCU as the original Ant-Man film did in 2015 as a smaller scaled closing door on the past several years’ worth of films from Marvel Studios.

It has been reported that while he was recently attending a fan event for the release of Avengers: Endgame in Shanghai, Marvel Studios President Kevin Feige confirmed that Spider-Man: Far From Home would act as the closing chapter for Phase 3. Feige simply stated, “It’s the end of the third phase” and followed up by adding that this was the first time he’d publicly said this.

I find this to be rather peculiar myself at first glance. After all, quite a lot of the anticipation and hype for Avengers: Endgame has been built around it being the conclusion of the Infinity Saga. So is that still going to be a present factor or will the closing chapter for the saga now be Spider-Man: Far From Home?

Thinking more on it, the likely explanation will probably be along the lines that the film will act as a transition film for fans of the past decade worth of MCU films and where the franchise is heading in a post-Endgame world.
