5 Burning Questions We Have About STAR WARS: THE RISE OF SKYWALKER

IV. How Much of Leia Will We See in This Movie?

The teaser has its fair share of emotionally charged moments. However, none tugs at the heartstrings quite so strongly as the image of a teary-eyed embrace between Rey and General Leia Organa.

The emotional resonance is amplified by the knowledge that we tragically lost the one and only Carrie Fisher in December of 2016. Leia remains one of Hollywood’s greatest icons and while Star Wars fans have been divided in recent years, all were united in their mourning for the beloved actress and writer.

The fandom was later surprised and heartened to learn last summer that although the film will be released 3 years after Carrie Fisher’s death, General Leia would return for one last bow in The Rise of Skywalker.

We know that Leia’s appearance will be based on unused footage from The Last Jedi, but we have no idea how much of her we can expect to see in the film.
