AVENGERS: ENDGAME Marketing Exceeds $200 Million
When it comes to breaking records Marvel is one of the best in the business. Their next film is the highly anticipated end to the Infinity Saga: Avengers: Endgame. While it has not hit theaters yet, it is already breaking records, like so many of its predecessors. When tickets went on sale, it broke pre-sale records. When the trailer released, it broke viewing records and now during the film’s promotional tour, it is once again, breaking records. The marketing campaign for Endgame is estimated over $200 million, which would be the most in Marvel Studios history. That is a lot to swallow considering all of films in discussion but last year’s blockbuster (Avengers: Infinity War) does not match up. Infinity War’s marketing campaign comes in at $150 million while to a lesser extent, Guardians of the Galaxy cost around $80 million.
I would not being going out on a limb when saying that the movie will maybe double $200 million in its opening weekend. Most have already been waiting for this film since they saw the ending to Infinity War. But a marketing campaign should blast this film’s anticipation through the roof, if it hadn’t been already. Disney is better at marketing than anyone in the business. Between the synergy of all their networks, and the funding they put to it, it is quite impressive what they accomplish. The genius (and the challenge) of this campaign is conducting it while also avoiding spoilers. The campaign seems to be focusing on the reunion of the Avengers and more especially the original three main members. Thor, Captain America and Iron Man are the movie’s biggest selling point because we have not seen these three in the same scene since Avengers: Age of Ultron. The reunion will be epic and the film will be one for the history books, in all accounts.
