THE SUICIDE SQUAD: John Cena In Talks To Join (Maybe As Peacemaker?!)
You will see John Cena in the upcoming comic book film The Suicide Squad. At least according to Variety, who has revealed the former WWE star is in talks to join the “reboot” of DC’s Suicide Squad. Margot Robbie, Jai Courtney and Viola Davis will reprise their roles as Harley Quinn, Captain Boomerang, and Amanda Waller respectively. Idris Elba will also be a part of the movie, crossing over from Marvel just like director James Gunn did. After initially being cast to replace Will Smith as Deadshot, Elba will now have a different role in the film (possibly Bronze Tiger). No word as of yet on who Cena or Elba will be playing in the film.
The Suicide Squad is expected to head into production this fall, with a premiere date currently set for August 6, 2021. The original Suicide Squad hit theaters in 2016, and grossed $746.8 million worldwide. We’ve had a lot of news on who the rag tag group may include, possibly having King Shark, Polka Dot Man, Killer Frost and others involved. Our own MFR says there will be an alien femme fatale joining the proceedings as well.
We’ll have to wait and see.
Cena’s most recent roles include Blockers and Bumblebee. His current films in progress include The Janson Detective, The Voyage of Dr. Dolittle(which is currently undergoing a massive overhaul), and Playing with Fire.
There were talks of Dave Bautista joining the film and maybe taking on a the role of Peacemaker. He even said himself he wanted in on The Suicide Squad. However, with Bautista being tapped to star in Zack Snyder’s Dawn of the Dead, it looks like Peacemaker will go to Cena. I could totally see that.
