It’s hard to imagine that longtime fans of the Marvel Cinematic Universe are already less than two weeks away from finally seeing Avengers: Endgame. Fans have waited for the past year to see the culmination of the MCU‘s past decade worth of films and the massive cliffhanger that was Avengers: Infinity War‘s ending. In that time, the Netflix side of the MCU finally came to an abrupt and brutal end (for now), while more relevant seeds for Thanos’ defeat were planted on the two most recent big screen entries Ant-Man and the Wasp and Captain Marvel. Naturally with Avengers: Endgame‘s release date drawing ever closer, more TV spots are starting to surface and show fans more new footage.

However it’s worth keeping in mind that none of us know yet what footage shown here is actually in the film and what might be a facade or adjusted to mask greater spoilers. After all, a number of fans commented about the money shot at the end of the Avengers: Infinity War teaser trailer of the team charging through a Wakandan forest- most notably with Hulk running among the crew, despite the shot making it into the final film nor Hulk being present for long past the film’s opening sequence.

In a recent interview with Fox 5, the directing duo Joe and Anthony Russo alluded to the possibility that such footage manipulation may already be at play for the Avengers: Endgame footage that’s already out there. When asked about the exciting moment of Tony and Steve finally rekindling their friendship in recent trailers, Joe Russo teased, “So you know that we tell people that we manipulate trailers in order to obfuscate what happens in these films? That actually is not in the movie.

Then again, he followed up by rhetorically asking if he was joking. So we’ll have to wait and see how things play out. Feel free to watch the interview for yourself below!
