The Russo Brothers Are Willing to Return to Marvel Studios

After directing four massive blockbusters for the studio, you wouldn’t blame Avengers: Endgame directors Anthony and Joe Russo for wanting to be done, but in an interview with comicbook.com’s Brandon Davis, Joe Russo revealed they only need a break:

“I think that, you know, we’re going to take a little bit of a break,We love Marvel. I mean, we’re very close with Kevin [Feige] and Lou [DeEsposito] and Victoria [Alonso] and Trin [Tranh], who’s produced the last two movies with us and eight more. I mean, it’s really like family for us there. But, you know, we’ve done four movies in six and a half years so we’re going to take a little bit of a vacation, but we’ll be, we’ll be back in a heartbeat.”

As many directors point out when being faced with returning to a franchise, Russo added, it all depends on the story:

“With the right material that makes sense,If we can find a story to tell, then I think. Purely on the directorial side.”

The Russos are set to reunite with their Avengers: Infinity War star Tom Holland on an adaptation of Cherry which tells a story of the opioid crisis, an issue close to the Russo’s heart.

Earlier in the week, the brothers were asked if they would ever do a film in the DC Extended Universe, their response was “never say never.” (Hmm… maybe it’s time for another editorial.)

Avengers: Endgame is the fourth Marvel film the Russo Brothers have done for the studio. It opens on April 26th and we’re covering everything in the lead up to the film right here on Revenge of the Fans!
