Don Rickles, legendary comedian, will be reprising his role as Mr. Potato Head in Toy Story 4. Yes, you read that correctly…

Despite having passed away two years ago, the production has found a way to incorporate previously recorded material to keep him in the role he’s played since the first Toy Story in 1995. There was much speculation as to who would take on the role, even from our own Associate Editor, Matt when he exclusively revealed additions to the cast. But the director of the movie, Josh Cooley revealed early yesterday morning they had been able to include Rickles in the movie as Mr. Potato Head.

Pixar has a history of honoring those who have been in their movies by not replacing them. A similar thing happened in Cars 3 when they used previous dialogue from Paul Newman to fulfill his role. This is provided they have permission from Rickles’ family, just as Disney needed permission from Carrie Fisher’s family to use previous footage from her in Episode IX. It was said by Rickles’ family he did not start on his lines for Toy Story 4, but that may be inaccurate.

Either way. He will be present in the film, at least for a little bit. You can check out the latest trailer HERE. Stay tuned for more news on Toy Story 4, and catch it in theaters June 21 of this year.

Woody (voice of Tom Hanks) has always been confident about his place in the world, and that his priority is taking care of his kid, whether that’s Andy or Bonnie. So when Bonnie’s beloved new craft-project-turned-toy, Forky (voice of Tony Hale), declares himself as “trash” and not a toy, Woody takes it upon himself to show Forky why he should embrace being a toy. But when Bonnie takes the whole gang on her family’s road trip excursion, Woody ends up on an unexpected detour that includes a reunion with his long-lost friend Bo Peep (voice of Annie Potts). After years of being on her own, Bo’s adventurous spirit and life on the road belie her delicate porcelain exterior. As Woody and Bo realize they’re worlds apart when it comes to life as a toy, they soon come to find that’s the least of their worries.
