RTF EXCLUSIVE: Netflix Lines Up McHale, Park, Singh, More For MEDICAL POLICE

Read Time:2 Minute, 25 Second

Last month, it was revealed that Netflix ordered a half hour series from the Children’s Hospital team called Medical Police. Erin Hayes and Rob Huebel are set to star as “a pair of American physicians stationed at a pediatric hospital in São Paulo, Brazil, who discover a civilization-threatening virus and are recruited as government agents in a race against time and around the world to find a cure and uncover a dark conspiracy.

It was previously announced that Malin Akerman, Lake Bell, Rob Corddry, and Ken Marino would have recurring roles.

But the cast gets better than that. Sources tell me that Randall Park, Craig Robinson, Joel McHale, former WWE superstar Carlito Colon, Jason Schwartzman, and new NBC late night host Lilly Singh are set to guest star, among others.

Park is best known for his roles in Fresh Off The Boat, Ant-Man And The Wasp, and The Interview. He even had a small cameo in Aquaman that set up a bigger role for the sequel. His comedic timing is great.

Robinson has appeared in many television shows, including Brooklyn Nine-Nine, The Office, and Eastbound and Down. He has appeared in several movies as well, such as Zack And Miri Make A Porno, and the upcoming Jay And Silent Bob Reboot.

McHale is no stranger to Netflix shows. He had his own self titled Netflix show, similar to The Soup, a show he did for E! He has appeared in many different movies and television shows, and will play Starman in DC’s Stargirl on the DC Universe streaming service.

Colon is the latest former wrestler to give Hollywood a run. He hasn’t done much outside of the WWE, but he did have a bit part on the Netflix comedy Glow, so it’ll be interesting to see what role he plays here.

Schwartzman is a vastly underrated talent. He has appeared in a handful of Wes Anderson movies, and usually has a knack for landing strange roles. His involvement in this might lend itself to how Medical Police will be.

Singh was a YouTube sensation, and will now be replacing Carson Daly on NBC after Late Night With Seth Meyers. Her career is on a high, and it just goes to show that if you do what you love, and never give up, wonderful things can happen.

No word on how many episodes each of these people will appear, or what roles they will play, but you can expect them to show up at some point.

Between this and Space Force, which is on its way from The Office‘s Stephen Merchant and Steve Carell, it looks like Netflix wants to become a premiere destination for new comedies. And why wouldn’t they? As McHale himself said when his show got axed, Netflix is the “King of the world right now.
