HARRY POTTER Vet Joins Cast Of GAME OF THRONES Prequel Series
Is it just me or is it still a little hard to process that Game of Thrones is finally coming to an end in just a few months’ time? The eighth and final season is set to premiere in just under a month on April 14th, with the promotion machine going in full tilt. Meanwhile HBO is already preparing for a prequel series spearheaded by Jane Goldman and franchise creator George R.R. Martin, starring Mulholland Drive alum Naomi Watts, Josh Whitehouse and others such as Naomi Ackie, Denise Gough and Alex Sharp. Now fans have another exciting addition to the show’s cast!
It is being reported that Harry Potter and Phantom of the Opera alum Miranda Richardson has joined the show’s cast as a series regular in an unknown role. As with previous castings, little is known about any of the characters in the show, although we know the show will be set thousands of years before the events of Game of Thrones and explore mankind’s “descent from the golden Age of Heroes into its darkest hour.” HBO has previously declared that the show will reveal “the horrifying secrets of Westeros’ history to the true origin of the white walkers, the mysteries of the East to the Starks of legend.”
I worry that I might be jumping to conclusions here based on the blonde hair, but perhaps Richardson will play an ancient ancestor of House Lannister? I’m not going to pretend that I’m the most informed fan out there on the vast history and lore of A Song of Fire and Ice, but I am aware that many ancestors of the Houses featured in Game of Thrones appear throughout the Age of Heroes, so I suspect fans will see its fair share of familiar banners and family names.
