Animation Legend Glen Keane’s OVER THE MOON Nabs A Sensational Cast

Glen Keane is a name any fan of animation should know. With a career dating back to 1973, he’s worked on countless classics, including Pete’s Dragon, The Little Mermaid, Beauty and The Beast, Aladdin, Pocahontas, Tarzan, and even more recent gems like Tangled and Wreck-It Ralph. That’s why it was a big deal when he announced last fall that he’d be directing the animated Chinese folktale Over The Moon.

Back when it was first announced, Over The Moon was described as an animated musical adventure about a girl who makes her own rocket ship in order to visit the moon in the hope of meeting a mythic Moon Goddess.

I am thrilled to work so closely with the innovators, animators and digital pioneers at Sony Pictures Imageworks as we bring the magical story of Fei Fei and her dream of a moonshot to life in Over the Moon,” Keane said in a press release last November. “To use an appropriate space metaphor, they have the right stuff to make this film visually stunning and completely unique in keeping with the style, tone and sensibility we plan to establish.

And now, thanks to our friends over at Geek Vibes Nation, we’ve got the first casting details for Over The Moon!

According to GVN, Keane has set John Cho, Sandra Oh, Ken Jeong, Lea Salonga, and Margaret Cho.

Considering the nature of the story, this dynamite voice cast, and the talent involved behind the scenes, it’s a pretty safe bet that Over The Moon is going to be a hit- especially overseas, in the ever-important Chinese market.
