Production Has Started On A Mysterious STAR WARS Live Action Series In The U.K.

Strange things are afoot in the Galaxy Far Far Away. For instance, as March draws closer and closer, Star Wars fans are still wondering when Lucasfilm will officially announce the title for Star Wars: Episode IX. It’s easily the longest wait yet for an official title for the Sequel Trilogy films since the new era started back in 2015. Likewise a rumor came up not too long ago that suggested that Star Wars: The Last Jedi director Rian Johnson would be leaving the new trilogy he’s currently overseeing, only for the story to die quickly when Johnson himself took to Twitter to confirm that he was still onboard the project. Now a new story seems to cry out across the stars!

The site Fantha Tracks reports that production has started in the United Kingdom for a third and yet-to-be-announced Star Wars live action series, which will most likely premiere on the upcoming Disney+ streaming service like The Mandalorian and the Cassian Andor series that were previously announced last year. Chances are that fans will most likely learn more about this mystery series later this year at Star Wars Celebration in April. The site adds that the series will be “shot in the UK under the production name of SERIES III PRODUCTION (UK) LIMITED” and that the first film in Rian Johnson’s upcoming trilogy will also be filmed under the production name E&E INDUSTRIES (UK) LIMITED.

Part of me wonders if this might be the rumored series about Obi-Wan Kenobi during the gap between Revenge of the Sith and A New Hope, but I’m not sure if I’d want that to be a series or a feature film. That said, I’m not sure at the moment who or what else this series could be about that makes sense. As mentioned earlier, we’ll probably just have to wait until Celebration to learn more.
