A live action Aladdin movie is coming, and yesterday we received our very first look at Will Smith as the Genie.

The biggest complaint was that the Genie looked human. I’m sure you’re thinking “Disney blew it!” Well don’t feel blue. You will be able to bask in all of Genie’s bluey-blueness. Will Smith confirmed to a fan that the this is just his human form – the Genie will be blue.

Tobias Fünke will be thrilled.  If you are still having trouble imagining what that would look at, superhero photoshop guru Boss Logic has you covered.

That picture blue me away. Aladdin is serious business for Disney. They will treat it right. It’s CYANtifically proven that a blue Genie is better, just like a blue ocean is when trying to smurf.

I hope this puts people’s minds at ease. This isn’t Disney’s first rodeo. I didn’t want to judge the EW cover too harshly, and it looks like I was right to feel that way. So sit back, eat you chicken cordon bleu and just be thankful Aladdinisn’t Sonic The Hedgehog.

Aladdin with its blue genie and all, will hit theaters May 24, 2019.

“Aladdin” is the exciting tale of the charming street rat Aladdin, the courageous and self-determined Princess Jasmine and the Genie who may be the key to their future. Directed by Guy Ritchie, who brings his singular flair for fast-paced, visceral action to the fictitious port city of Agrabah, the film is written by John August and Ritchie based on Disney’s “Aladdin.” “Aladdin” stars Will Smith as the larger-than-life Genie; Mena Massoud as the charming scoundrel Aladdin; Naomi Scott as Jasmine, the beautiful, self-determined princess; Marwan Kenzari as Jafar, the powerful sorcerer; Navid Negahban as the Sultan concerned with his daughter’s future; Nasim Pedrad as Dalia, Princess Jasmine’s free-spirited best friend and confidante; Billy Magnussen as the handsome and arrogant suitor Prince Anders; and Numan Acar as Hakim, Jafar’s right-hand man and captain of the palace guards.
