RTF Soup: ‘SPIDER-HAM Cusses, RAMBO Aims An Arrow, And SONIC Loves Leg Day’

Sometimes when looking for stories to share with you all, we come across neat little bits and pieces that would be nice to share but aren’t exactly worthy of an entire article. So we’re introducing RTF Soup, a new semi-regular where we collect the fun little things floating around out there and gather them into one neat post for your viewing pleasure.

What A (Spider) Pig!

Respected comedian, and former SNL writer John Mulaney is about to make his biggest splash into the mainstream yet when Sony’s Spider-Man: Into The Spider-Verse arrives in theaters this Friday. Why? Because he voices Spider-Ham, and he’s a bit of a scene-stealer in the film because of the juicy lines they give his Peter Porker.

But, as it turns out, Mulaney may have had a little too much fun with lines that were not in the script.

As Mulaney explains in this clip from The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon, the Spider-Man: Into The Spider-Verse team generously suggested that he “have fun with it” while recording his lines. Naturally, the adult-oriented comedian has a different sensibility than that of the folks making a family-friendly Spidey movie, as evidenced by these NSFW outtakes from Mulaney’s first recording session (jump to 4:51 to hear the setup and then watch the outtakes):

Rambo Takes Aim At The Sunset

Hot on the heels of Sylvester Stallone announcing that he’s likely retiring from playing Rocky Balboa, his other iconic creation John Rambo is set to return for one last hurrah in Rambo 5: Last Blood

There are certain things the character is known for, and one of them is his penchant for dispatching of villains with a bow and arrow.

Well, Stallone just took to Instagram to show you that Rambo is still up to his old tricks in Last Blood, as we see him wielding his weapon of choice with the caption “‘Death is coming your way, and there’s nothing in this world you can do to stop it…’ Rambo said calmly to the gang of killers“:

Sonic Never Misses Leg Day, Apparently

A few days ago, the world got its first glimpse of Sonic The Hedgehog from his upcoming cinematic adaptation, and the reaction was…shall we say, “Mixed“?

This was the first look:

And now, thanks to an intrepid twitter user, just 24 hours later we got a second look at the iconic Sega mascot. Check out the gams on the speedy little fur ball in this poster for Sonic The Hedgehog:

Bonus: VENOM Is Getting A Sequel, Because DUH, That’s Why

To say that Venom has over-performed for Sony is an understatement. The film has done incredible numbers across the board, and it should come as a surprise to no one that they’re developing a sequel. But while that’s been the obvious expectation, there hasn’t been a lot to report on an official level.

Well, in a new chat with Discussing FilmVenom writer Jeff Pinkner was asked about what fans could expect from the sequel. His response?

“I can’t say anything other than that it is happening.”

And for some reason that’s news.

Oh, and he also mentioned that “as of now” he is not writing Venom 2- Which is probably for the best, since many see the film’s success as something that happened in spite of the fact that it’s not a very well-written movie. It’s winning with audiences, for sure, but that’s mainly because of the remarkable way Tom Hardy’s performance and Ruben Fleischer’s deft directing helped the film overcome a very threadbare script.

Hope you enjoyed this inaugural edition of RTF Soup!
