As I mentioned in my article for The Lion King earlier today, Disney are set to make a ridiculous amount of money next year. Three classic animated films being remade for a new generation, a new Star Wars film, multiple MCU films and even Frozen 2 are on the roster. Then there’s Toy Story 4. Whether or not you personally believed the third film was an appropriate sendoff for the gang, the fact of the matter is that the story is indeed continuing. With that though comes an exciting new addition to the cast!
Tim Allen, the returning voice actor for Buzz Lightyear, revealed on The Tonight Show with Jimmy Fallon last week that John Wick himself will be in Toy Story 4. Sort of. Keanu Reeves will voice a new toy in the film, marking his first time doing a voice-acting gig in his thirty-two year long film career. Unsurprisingly, Reeves’ character has been described as “a toy with an intense personality.”
“They really will surprise you with the toys they came up with,” Allen stated. “Characters came back, new guys in it that are great. Keanu Reeves has got a great part… Actually, a little inside story [about Reeves]: Even he said — gentle, wonderful guy that he is — ‘This sounds too much like Buzz Lightyear.’ And his character does have an edge to that. And the guy said, ‘So we calmed him down a little bit,’ and they reminded me his toy is only that big.”
While I’m still a bit skeptical about the film, it’s hard not to be excited for another Toy Story. Especially one with (hopefully) a John Wick toy.
