If I had to pick just one upcoming MCU film that I’m most excited to see, it would probably be The Eternals. Not to invalidate the worth of any of the other upcoming MCU films, but Kevin Feige’s decision to enlist The Rider director Chloe Zhao suggests that Marvel Studios have higher ambitions than usual with this particular film. We won’t be seeing this particular entry on the big screen until sometime in 2020, but more news on the film has hit the Web!
ThatHashtagShow reports that they have a list of characters that will appear in the film and I have to say that my first impressions are that this film seems to be set with a rather massive cast. Not that it rivals the sheer magnitude that was present in Avengers: Infinity War earlier this year, but if this list is accurate, you have to give Marvel credit for going all out in introducing general audiences to the sprawling lore thought up by Jack Kirby and then later expanded on by Neil Gaiman.
Among the list are characters such as Sersi, Ikaris, Gilgamesh, Makkari and Thanos’ brother Eros. The site specifically cites Druig as being the main villain of the film and reports that among the cast list are two characters referred to as “Karen” and a male lead only described as “a Greek God.” The site speculates that might be Hercules.
I am a bit confused though. Judging from this report, it would seem that “Karen” and the mystery male lead are intended to be the film’s central roles. That said, previous reports indicated that the film would focus on a love story between Sersi and Ikaris. Then again, it isn’t like these details are mutually exclusive from each other. We’ll just have to wait and see what Zhao, Feige and company are up to with The Eternals.
