THE FANBOY: ‘For DC, The Future Is Now, and Talking Superman and The State of Film Critique w/ Zaki Hasan!’
On this week’s episode of The Fanboy Podcast, host Mario-Francisco Robles booked the fantastic columnist, critic, podcaster, and overall great guy Zaki Hasan from the MovieFilm Podcast to talk about where Superman is in pop culture these days (namely the movies), and what’s going on with film criticism in this Rotten Tomatoes World we’re now living in.
Hasan shares what it takes to become a Rotten Tomatoes Critic, and what the process is like of determining what’s “Fresh” and what’s “Rotten.” It’s a very insightful discussion about an issue that we know is very important to fans around the world who are concerned with the way critics use their influence.
But before getting into that, he shares some thoughts and insights into the way Warner Bros and DC Entertainment are feeling these days, on the cusp of Aquaman making waves around the world. He also makes his case for why the time has finally come for all facets of the DC fandom to come together behind James Wan’s movie.
He builds on what he shared in last week’s big Aquaman piece, while shedding light on what a boycott of the film by certain DC fans would mean for their cause.
Also touched upon in the episode is the news that a Rogue One prequel TV series is coming to Disney+ as part of Lucasfilm’s desire to bring Star Wars to the small screen- and what MFR thinks of how that’s going so far, and what it could mean for other Lucasfilm and Marvel Studios TV series moving forward.
