The Cast Of DAREDEVIL Say They Want Spider-Man To Appear On The Show

Going back to the beginning of the Marvel Cinematic Universe, when we were told “It’s all connected,” with regard to the movies and the TV shows, folks have dreamt of certain crossovers. The third season of Daredevil just dropped, and while doing press, the cast noted who they wanted to see appear on the show: Spider-Man. Why? Because Duh. That’s why.

“The fans would kill me if I didn’t say Spidey,” D’Onofrio said in the TV Guide interview, acknowledging the longstanding comic book rivalry between his Wilson Fisk and Spider-Man. “Spidey would be really nice to drop by Daredevil.”

And while Deborah Ann Woll echoes that sentiment, she also says she doesn’t mind keeping Daredevil smaller and more intimate. “I mean, I’ll say this: I actually really enjoy [the Avengers] out there fighting aliens and Matt Murdock is defending the crap out of ten blocks of Manhattan,” said the actress who has played Karen Page across three seasons of Daredevil, one season of The Punisher, and for the crossover event, The Defenders. “That’s, I think, really exciting that you can do this small level kind of real people stuff. I enjoy our small level scale, and I think these little hints are the fun bits.

Jay Ali had a whole other idea.

Ali said Thor. That won’t happen. I mean, Spider-Man won’t happen either, but it is more likely at least. I don’t think any of the Netflix properties will ever crossover with the movie properties. But if anything does, I can see Cox and D’Onofrio appearing in a Spider-Man movie, instead of Spider-Man doing the show.

This for a couple of reasons. One, Spider-Man is complicated due to Sony’s involvement. So Marvel would need to bring Daredevil into his world, not vice versa. But the biggest reason is that the movie and TV worlds are separate. Feige controls the movie side, but not the TV side. There is a definite disconnect between the two, and the gap has only gotten wider as of late.

The bigger question would be: Is there a future for Daredevil? Netflix has cancelled Iron Fist and Luke Cage. There isn’t any word on a fourth season, but it’s the most likely. With that being said, if Netflix purges all of its Marvel properties, and they move to the Disney Play app, then the chances of Spider-Man appearing increase exponentially.

Daredevil Season 3 is now streaming, exclusively on Netflix.

“Missing for months, Matt Murdock (Charlie Cox) reemerges a broken man, putting into question his future as both vigilante Daredevil and lawyer Matthew Murdock. But when his archenemy Wilson Fisk (Vincent D’Onofrio) is released from prison, Matt must choose between hiding from the world or embracing his destiny as a hero.”
