Dave Bautista, has been making a lot of news lately, most all of it revolving around his loyalty to James Gunn, and his desire to not work for Disney after Gunn’s firing. Happily, I’m here to report on something not involving any controversy. It seems like the former WWE Superstar would like a vacation from all drama, and he’s eyeing Fantasy Island as his getaway from it all.
The Hollywood Reporter brings word that Bautista is in talks to join the upcoming film version of Fantasy Island.
Here’s more on the remake from THR:
The feature project is described as being a tonal mix of Westworld meets The Cabin in the Woods, centering on a group of contest winners who arrive at an island hotel to live out their dreams, only to find themselves trapped in nightmare scenarios.
If everything goes as planned, Bautista will be playing a past contestant who is stuck on the island against his will. If he has his way, he will expose the island for the horror it truly is.
Michael Pena has been cast as Mr Roark, the host on the island. Jeff Wadlow (Kick-Ass 2) is set to direct and has co-written the screenplay with Chris Roach and Jillian Jacobs, who also both worked on the script for Wadlow’s Truth or Dare.
There was an attempt to revive Fantasy Island with Malcolm McDowell as Roark in 1994, but it quickly got cancelled. Hopefully the film finds more success.
Are you excited to see another version of the classic TV show?
