Idris Elba Set to Play the Villain in HOBBS AND SHAW
The cast of Hobbs and Shaw just gets better by the moment.
According to Variety, Idris Elba is in final talks to play the main villain in the Dwayne Johnson/Jason Statham spinoff, which begins shooting in September. Deadpool 2‘s David Leitch will direct, while Fast and Furious veteran Chris Morgan will pen the script.
Elba is no stranger to the villain role, as he has played Krall in Star Trek Beyond and Shere Khan in the live-action remake of Disney’s The Jungle Book. Elba is also well-known for his role as John Luther in Luther, Stringer Bell in The Wire and Heimdall in several Marvel productions.
Elba will be a great foil for Johnson’s Luke Hobbs and Statham’s Deckard Shaw. With The Queen‘s Vanessa Kirby also added to the cast, it looks like this Fast and Furious spinoff will be something special.
Hobbs and Shaw is set for a July 26, 2019, release.
