Netflix and Telltale Games Will Make A STRANGER THINGS Video Game

Netflix is getting into the video game business! Kind of. News of Minecraft: Story Mode coming to the streaming giant, a Choose Your Own Adventure type experience using any remote with a directional pad, hit E3 recently. Now, Netflix and Telltale will make a game based off of Stranger Things.

The biggest difference is that the Stranger Things game will not be offered on Netflix, instead it will come to traditional gaming platforms.

While this and the Minecraft things are cool, don’t expect Netflix to veer off in this direction. A representative for Netflix commented on the news to Mashable:

“We don’t have any plans to get into gaming. There’s a broad spectrum of entertainment available today. Games have become increasingly cinematic, but we view this as interactive narrative storytelling on our service.”

Interactive stories are nothing new to the service, with Netflix already offering things like Stretch Armstrong: The Breakout, Puss in Book: Trapped in an Epic Tale and Buddy Thunderstruck: The Maybe Pile.

The Stranger Things game is a different animal than those. You will be able to play it on consoles like PC, XBox One, PS4 and the Nintendo Switch. No word on what the story or format of the game will be, but out of all of Netflix’s properties, that one is probably best suited for a videogame.

It seems like this is just the beginning of Telltale’s partnership with Netflix.

So expect more games based off of their properties in the future.
