It Doesn’t Look Like We’ll Be Seeing The DEATHSTROKE Solo Film Anytime Soon

While I’m not exactly surprised, this is definitely a story I wish we didn’t have to report. It seems that we won’t be seeing the Deathstroke solo movie from Gareth Evans of The Raid fame anytime soon. While answering questions about his future projects from fans on his official Instagram account, Evans revealed that his slate is full until 2020. He replied, “Going straight into production on a TV show soon in UK, that will keep me busy making general mayhem til 2020 then looking at making a bunch of films in Wales for the foreseeable future.

For the meantime, fans of the character will have to look forward to seeing Deathstroke appear in the upcoming animated film, Teen Titans GO! To The Movies, as voiced by Will Arnett (who also voices Lego Batman in the Lego Movie franchise). As for when fans will get to see Joe Manganiello return in the live action version of the character we briefly saw in the post-credits scene at the end of Justice League, that remains up in the air.

Originally it seems that Manganiello’s incarnation of the character was intended to star as the main villain of The Batman, back when Ben Affleck was still onboard as the director and co-writer of the script. After Affleck stepped down from those positions and current director Matt Reeves came onboard, that plan was scrapped for a new story envisioned by Reeves. Most recent rumors of Reeves’ plans for the film indicate that the Penguin could be the main antagonist of that film.

To that end, it’s anyone’s guess for which DCU film audiences will get to see Slade Wilson appear in and return to the big screen. Both the Nightwing solo movie and Suicide Squad 2 could work as possible options, but that can only be speculation at this point.

But what do you think? Will Deathstroke appear in Reeves’ version of The Batman anyway? Do you want that to be the case? Whatever your thoughts may be, please be sure to share them with us down in the comment section below!
