Trailer Round Up : BUMBLEBEE, WRECK-IT RALPH 2, THE LEGO MOVIE 2 and More!
A bunch of trailers for new movies dropped recently, so here are some that are on our radar.
First, the Transformers prequel Bumblebee starring Hailee Steinfeld and John Cena.
This actually looks promising! I am not a fan of what Michael Bay did with the Transformers series, but this now has my attention. They hooked me with the voice of the legend that is Bernie Mac (R.I.P.) and bought in more and more throughout. I will approach this with caution, but this might be the first Transformers movie in over a decade that I see in theaters.
Next up is a crime movie called White Boy Rick starring Matthew McConaughey, which is based on a true story.
Detroit is near and dear to my heart, and this story looks intriguing. A 15 year old hustler, dealer, kingpin and informant? That’s enough for me to buy a ticket. Plus it looks like we will get some glorious McConaughey moments. Keep this one on your radar, it might surprise people.
The clunky titled sequel to Wreck It Ralph called Ralph Breaks The Internet: Wreck it Ralph 2 looks delightful, and earned my respect for joking about their own title. Plus the Disney Princesses bit is pure joy:
With all of the Disney branding, and their willingness to make meta jokes, it looks like we are in for a treat here – especially if you are fan of the first one.
Amazon Studios is releasing a horror movie called Suspiria in the fall, and they released the first teaser trailer for it. The movie stars Tilda Swinton and Dakota Johnson.
This certainly looks eerie, and should likely please horror fans with the talent involved. It is a remake of the 1977 Italian film of the same name, so if this trailer intrigued you, perhaps go seek that out to see what its all about.
Next up is Peter Jackson’s new flick Mortal Engines. It stars Robert Sheehan, Hugo Weaving and Stephen Lang.
It certainly looks in Jackson’s wheelhouse – a big sweeping adventure epic that is sure to please many fans of Lord of the Rings. (A lot of behind the camera talent is the same). Jackson has had success adapting books before, so it’ll be interesting to see if he can continue that streak with this.
And finally, we have the trailer to The Lego Movie 2: The Second Part
This is fine for a teaser trailer, but the official trailer will need to sell it more. At least we got a taste of what to expect though, which seems to be more of what we loved about the first one, without the Lord/Miller touch. We’ll see how it goes.
Do any of these movies intrigue you? Which ones do you think you will go to the theater to see?
