Rosario Dawson Could Be Done With Marvel After The Second Season of LUKE CAGE

Rosario Dawson was once the glue that bound the Marvel Netflix shows together. She appeared in Daredevil season 1 as Claire Temple, and appeared in nearly every show after that, including The Defenders. Her largest roles have been in Iron Fist and Luke Cage.

With the second season of Luke Cage happening soon, Dawson is set to reprise her role as Claire Temple. But maybe we should pay extra attention to her story this time, because it could be her last.

While at MCM Comic Con in London, she was asked about her future with the Marvel shows. Her answer was pretty enlightening.

“Yeah, its pretty wild actually. I don’t know if I’ll be back after this, to be honest, but it’s been an amazing few years. I’ve been on a lot of different shows,” Dawson said. “I mean, I don’t know if maybe they do a third season of Luke Cage potentially, or maybe if they figure out some kind of way for me to be on The Punisher – just so I can feel like I’ve done every show. But it’s been like, my daughter is high school, so I kinda wanna’ not be 3000 miles away for work.”

It sounds like Claire Temple survives the events of Luke Cage season 2, and it also sounds like she has fulfilled her contract. Those comments make it sound like it is entirely her choice if she wants to return to that world or not.

Dawson is a highlight of that corner of the Marvel Cinematic Universe, and if the second season of Luke Cage is her swan song, then it will make that season all the more bittersweet.

She did mention wanting to be on The Punisher, however, so Dawson hasn’t shut the door completely. A few new people have joined the cast of second season of The Punisher and that is expected to start filming soon. So if they wanted Dawson she would have presumably known already.

Or maybe she is distracting us from the truth. Dawson is a consummate professional, and so if she had a death in the upcoming season of Luke Cage, this would be the perfect thing to say to throw off the scent of that.

I for one, am a huge fan of Rosario Dawson, and the more she is on my screen, the better life is. So I hope that she is able to continue in the Marvel Universe.

We will find out more about the future of Claire Temple when the second season of Luke Cage drops on Netflix on June 22.
