Studios Play Release Date Roulette With A Bunch Of Movies: GODZILLA 2, SIX BILLION DOLLAR MAN, More!

Nowadays, release dates are set so far in advance that a ton of things have to happen in order for studios to make those dates. Often though, they get moved for one reason or another. The project loses a key player, or another movie moves close and they want their space. Whatever the case may be, it happens.

Deadline has the breakdown of the all the release date changes that have occurred lately:

Six Billion Dollar Man: The film is being moved from May 31, 2019, to June 5, 2020. The reason is because original director Damian Szifron was “moved off” the project due to those pesky creative differences. Once another director is found, the project will continue.

Dr. Sleep: The project is now slated to be released on January 24, 2020. It is a sequel to The Shining and Mike Flanagan is expected to direct.

Godzilla 2: The movie is being moved from March 22, 2019, to May 31, 2019. It takes Six Billion Dollar Man‘s old spot.

Crazy Rich Asians: This is a small move, only by two days. It will now open August 15th instead of August 17th. It might be to get some space from The Happytime Murders which looks absolutely bananas. (Seriously, go find the trailer for yourself, it is INSANE and very NSFW!)

These were not the first movies to shift,  when Avengers: Infinity War announced they were opening a week early. That caused Rampage to move as well.

If we hear about any more shifts we will be sure to keep you updated.
