Huzzah! Hemsworth Drops Major Hint That His THOR Ain’t Going Anywhere After Next AVENGERS

While it’s widely expected that the next Avengers film will feature the last hurrahs for characters like Tony Stark (Robert Downey Jr.) and Steve Rogers (Chris Evans), there’s one original Avenger who’s hinting that he’s not done just yet. You may recall that Evans recently posted something that acted as a sort of Goodbye, hinting that Avengers 4 will mark the end of his journey as Captain America, Chris Hemsworth- who plays Thor- just did the opposite.

Over in his Instagram account, the Thor actor just posted a video thanking fans for giving Avengers: Infinity War an unbelievable opening weekend in China. Check it out, or skip it and read his transcribed words and what they imply below:

Here’s what Hemsworth said:

“It was the biggest superhero film opening ever. The film continues to smash records left right and center and, I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again — it’s all thanks to you guys. Thank you so much, everyone who continues to support these characters and the Marvel Universe. We’re going to keep trying to crank them out for you, if you let us.”

What makes that last line so interesting is that Hemsworth is not a member of the Marvel Studios brass; He is not a producer, a writer, or a director. He’s merely an actor. So for him to say “We’re going to keep” making these movies implies that he’s going to continue to perform in them as Thor.

And I can’t say I’m surprised.

The character has undergone a bit of a renaissance in recent months. With the way he was written and portrayed in last November’s Thor: Ragnarok, followed by his impactful side quest in Avengers: Infinity War, it’s become quite clear that Odin’s Son has taken on an expanded role in the Marvel Cinematic Universe and that audiences are loving it. Ragnarok was a smash with fans and critics alike, and he has a moment in Infinity War that’s created loads of buzz as the film sets him up to have one of the biggest heroic arcs and payoffs in the franchise’s history.

When you combine Thor’s recently expanded role, rejuvenated portrayal, fans wanting more, and the fact that Ragnarok director Taika Waititi has said he’d be happy to come back to the MCU specifically for more Thor movies…it looks like we’re going to see the God of Thunder do his thing for a whole lot longer.

I’m thrilled to see this coming together, as I remarked after my second viewing of Infinity War how remarkable it is that these movies finally made me care about Thor. I could’ve slept through his first two solo movies, and he was only a bit player in my mind when I watched the first two Avengers films, but with the arc they gave him from Ragnarok into IW they somehow managed to breathe such new life into him that he’s suddenly jumped to the top of my list. No small feat, when you consider how little I cared about the character just seven months ago.

Please let these implications be accurate, cause I need me some more Thor!
