Russo Brothers Excited About Doing More Marvel Movies Post-Disney/Fox Buyout
With just days to go until Avengers: Infinity War hits theaters and a year away from Avengers 4, fans have begun to ponder over the future of Anthony and Joe Russo’s place in the Marvel Cinematic Universe.
Last fall, rumors started to circulate about the Russos leaving the MCU following the completion of Avengers 4. The brothers addressed the rumors by saying that they would love to continue working in the MCU.
During the press junket for Infinity War, Screen Rant asked the Russos if there any plans yet for them to return to the MCU.
Joe Russo: Not yet. We love Marvel, that amazing experience with them and Disney. We love comic books. We love telling these stories. Obviously, the Fox / Disney mergers is incredibly exciting to us as comic book fans. We’re just trying to get Avengers 4 done and then, you know, we’d love to work with those guys again.
The Russos have expressed interest in doing a Secret Wars movie in the past and, with the Disney/Fox buyout all but certain at this point, they may get their wish down the line if Marvel Studios decides to go that route.
With Marvel staying silent on post-Avengers 4 plans, it would be hard to imagine the Russos not having a place in the future of the MCU.
Avengers: Infinity War hits theaters on Friday, while Avengers 4 will be in theaters on May 3, 2019.
