A QUIET PLACE Set to Easily Overtake READY PLAYER ONE at the Box Office

If a horror film is well-made, it doesn’t matter if it’s rated PG-13 or R.

Paramount’s A Quiet Place proved that when the film pulled in an impressive $4.3 million on Thursday night, according to Variety.

The John Krasinski-directed flick – which also stars he and his wife, Emily Blunt, as two parents who are trying to keep their family safe from monsters that hunt by sound – is set to dethrone last week’s box office champ, Ready Player One, this coming weekend with a $30 million debut.

Universal’s Blockers should also be off to a solid start this weekend, with the comedy expected to make between $16 million and $20 million. The Kay Cannon-directed film stars Leslie Mann, Ike Barinholtz, and John Cena as parents trying to stop their daughters from losing their virginity on prom night.

Both A Quiet Place and Blockers received acclaim coming out of SXSW last month and that acclaim has carried over as both films are sitting at 97% and 82% respectively on Rotten Tomatoes.
