Opening Weekend Box Office Projections Have Been Release For AVENGERS: INFINITY WAR
Now, I would be hard pressed to think that there is anyone in the world, and I mean any one, that would actually think that Avengers: Infinity War is going to somehow be, an “okay” movie. Even a bad movie. This is a movie that is taking a film universe that began in 2008 with Iron Man. This is TEN years of films culminating into one powerhouse of a film. It’s a milestone, to say the least, and this movie is going to be huge. We’re over a month away and I am already broke scooping up anything I can find pertaining to the movie. Even a a replica of the infinity gauntlet I put on pre-order. I’m not even joking.
The big question though is, how much money is Marvel Studios rake in with this installment? With Black Panther demolishing the box office, it seems that Marvel may still be able to outdo itself. Box Office Pro has reported the opening weekend numbers and they are, to say the least, massive. The numbers are as follows:
- Domestic Opening Weekend: $200 million – $235 million
- Domestic Total Gross: $490 million – $590 million
While the report won’t be going into worldwide projections at the moment, there are already some early estimates that predict Avengers: Infinity War may just have a chance at gaining the crown for biggest opening weekend record. A crown currently being held by Fate of the Furious with that film bringing in a whopping $443.2M overseas, and $541.9M worldwide when it was released. To be honest, those numbers surprised me considering how ridiculous I found the movies to have become but hey… what do I know? Clearly, I was in the minority on that one.
Now we’ll see if Disney is able to outdo Disney. The current title holder for Opening Domestic Weekend Champ is, another favorite franchise of mine, Star Wars: The Force Awakens, which made $248M. Following directly behind it is Star Wars: The Last Jedi which made $220M.
With ten years of films bringing this baby home, I think this film is going to dominate like no other. Let’s also not forget, the numbers are going to explode that weekend with the release date now being the same worldwide. I see Fandango crashing when these tickets go on sale.
So what do you think of these projections? You think Disney/Marvel Studios will hit the mark or soar even higher? Do you think I’ll be able to change the universe with my infinity gauntlet? Sound off on the comments below!
