Wes Anderson really is a genre unto himself. His films all have a very particular, very deliberate style and sensibility, and Isle of Dogs shall be no different. This stop-motion animated film, in the vein of his Fantastic Mr. Fox, is due to arrive in theaters soon.
Today, we were sent this motion poster for Isle of Dogs, and- fittingly- it’s very Wes Anderson:
And if you haven’t had the chance yet to see the delightfully zany and dry trailer for Isle of Dogs, here you go:
ISLE OF DOGS tells the story of ATARI KOBAYASHI, 12-year-old ward to corrupt Mayor Kobayashi. When, by Executive Decree, all the canine pets of Megasaki City are exiled to a vast garbage-dump called Trash Island, Atari sets off alone in a miniature Junior-Turbo Prop and flies across the river in search of his bodyguard-dog, Spots. There, with the assistance of a pack of newly-found mongrel friends, he begins an epic journey that will decide the fate and future of the entire Prefecture.
Isle of Dogs has a delightful cast, made up both of Anderson vets and newcomers. We’re talking Bryan Cranston, Koyu Rankin, Edward Norton, Bob Balaban, Bill Murray, Jeff Goldblum, Kunicki Nomura, Akira Takayama, Greta Gerwig, Frances McDormand, Akira Ito, Scarlett Johansson, Harvey Keitel, F. Murray Abraham, Yoko Ono, Tilda Swinton, Ken Watanabe, Mari Katsuki, Fisher Stevens, Nijiro Murakami, Liev Schreiber, and Courtney B. Vance.
Isle of Dogs looks like another great, quirky Wes Anderson film. We’re sure Brett will be gushing about it on a future episode of The Revengers Podcast after it arrives in theaters on March 23!
