Excellent! Official Title And Synopsis Revealed For BILL AND TED 3
It looks like the Wyld Stallyns’ next outing in Bill and Ted 3 finally has a plot synopsis and a full title. What has two thumbs, plays wicked air guitar and is excited about this news? THIS GUY! What has two thumbs and is bummed that the movie still hasn’t gotten the green light or any funding? Yup… same guy. This guy.
Before you walk away from this article completely bummed out, let’s at least enjoy the good bit of news I was able to obtain. Screenwriter Ed Solomon says that the film will be titled Bill and Ted Face The Music and he’s been working on the project for “almost 10 years” with the original Stallyn’s themselves, stars Alex Winter and Keanu Reeves. They even have an awesome director lined up to bring this puppy to life; Galaxy Quest director Dean Parisot, who’s sense of humor (if Galaxy Quest is any inclination) should be right on par for this project and the source material.
Solomon also told Digital Spy some details on what our boys, Bill S. Preston, Esq. and Ted “Theodore” Logan, will be up to in Bill and Ted Face The Music. It seems middle aged Bill and Ted will be sent back in time (phone booth or cell phone charging station?) to interact with their younger selves and George Carlin’s character, Rufus, “using footage from 1989’s Bill and Ted’s Excellent Adventure.” Solomon said this:
“They return to that scene at the Circle K when Bill and Ted first meet themselves, only now they’re watching their younger selves and looking at the exuberance and joy that they had at that time in their lives. And they see Rufus, they see George Carlin…”
Personally, with all this news, I am absolutely stoked (not one of my usual vocabulary words but trying to stay in the Bill and Ted vernacular here, thanks.) Unfortunately, all good things have their processes and trials and tribulations to overcome. With Bill and Ted, despite the great ideas and potentially funny story, the movie hasn’t been funded as of yet. Solomon also say that Bill and Ted Face The Music is facing some issues in Hollywood. For one, studios aren’t looking for a sequel that involves older stars Winter and Reeves. They want a full reboot. Inclusive of this, they are also having trouble because financiers are not convinced that this film will be a box office hit “since the original movie ‘wasn’t released [widely] internationally and didn’t have a giant release in the States.'”
While these issues are completely understandable, there could potentially be others ways to gain the funds. It isn’t completely out of the realm of possibility to crowd fund something like this. Unless maybe… a certain streaming service can come and save the day? You know… one that is beefing up its own stable of films. *cough* Netflix *cough*.
